Meet GOLDEN @AoM in Vancouver

Since many GOLDEN friends will attend this year’s Annual Academy of Management Meeting in Vancouver, we would like to suggest to meet for an informal get-together on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at 7 pm. It would be great if you would be able to join us. Please contact Kerstin Neumann to indicate your availability, she will inform you about the meeting place. We are looking forward to seeing you in Canada.

Call for action: GOLDEN for Government Institutions

GOLDEN is working on an important initiative to propose the idea of creating a Sustainable Enterprise Model Innovation (SEMI) Lab as an innovative form of policy intervention to support and speed up the diffusion of sustainability experimentation within firms’ core activities (governance, strategy-making, control and incentive systems, leadership and managerial mind-sets, etc.).

We are discussing the idea with the OECD, with UN Agencies (UNGC, UNIDO, UNEP, ILO), with the support of ministries in the Italian and the French Government.  For instance, the concept has been officially proposed by the Italian government to the meeting of UNGC donors (governments), with positive initial feedback.  We now have to expand the document to full proposal status for the next meeting of UNGC donors in the fall. We will also present the collaborative initiative at a specific workshop organized by OECD at the end of September.

If you are interested to collaborate and contribute to this line of work, please contact Nicoletta Ferro.

Call for Participation – GOLDEN Book Chapters

We would like to invite you to participate in a book project, provisionally entitled “Innovation and Change towards the Sustainable Enterprise: an Experimental Approach”, designed to present some of the key ideas and methodologies that characterize the GOLDEN program.

  • In the first part we describe the challenges of studying innovation and change towards sustainable enterprise models, and the overarching approach that the GOLDEN program took to tackle them.
  • In the second part, a series of chapters offer a synthesis of the GOLDEN community’s best thinking about the state-of-the-art in the academic and practitioner debates on a specific sustainability issue or functional domain, and suggest possible ways to design field experiments, engaging companies and scholars in a collaborative way, to pilot test innovative approaches and change efforts to embed sustainability in a given (set of) core business process(es) (e.g. incentives or control) or organizational traits (e.g. culture or leadership).
  • Finally, the third part tackles the policy problem related to sustainable development with a micro-founded, experimental, approach, which GOLDEN is currently discussing with several UN agencies, the OECD and national governments.

Ideally, we would like to assemble a small group of expert scholars for each chapter of the book. Please read the concept note below and let us know if you are interested in contributing to develop one (or more) of the chapters that we envision would be part of the book. Also, feel free to suggest changes to the proposed Table of Contents. This is going to be a collective venture.
